Camping Mønbroen consists of an area around the new reception/ facilities building which holds around 110 pitches and an area down by the sea, which holds around 20 pitches mainly used for tents. Caravans and motorhomes can use the pitches outside the high season.
Caravans / motorhomes
All pitches at the new facilities have electricity, small hedges to mark the size of the pitches, which are all large, around 120 m2 per pitch, and many of them have a view to the sea. The pitches further away from the water are on the other hand close to the new facilities and the playground. How much shelter, shadow and view there are on each pitch vary quite a bit, so please have a look around and see what you would like. Then we will try to comply with your wishes.
The pitches down by the water can be used by caravans and motorhomes outside the high season which is normally from around 25 June to 20 August. During the high season the area is used exclusively for tents. 10 pitches have electricity, automatically keeping down the number of caravans and motorhomes.
The house that was originally built to provide for the passengers for the ferry to Zealand now houses old but renovated facilities. They open mid-May, depending on the weather – they are not heated. Which is why they are closed by the end of September. But you can always use the new facilities, they are no more than 150 m away.
Tents
The tent area is surrounded by bushes and trees to make it a cosy place to camp at the same time providing shelter for the wind. The area is situated right by the water, separated from the rest of the site by a slope. 5 of the pitches have electicity, and everyone can use the plugs in the kitchen and toilets.
An outdoor kitchen and an outdoor solar-heated shower are available on-site along with a new wooden house with table tennis and table football. In the old house you find toilets and showers along with a small kitchen with hotplates, refrigerator and a microwave oven. Our shelter is at one end of the area and in front of it is a fireplace and on the beach another fireplace has been made.
There is no lights on in the area at night, so it is an obvious place to enjoy the dark night sky.
Off course it is also possible to tent in the area around reception, quite often it is possible to find a pitch a little way from the nearest caravan. Then you are closer to the new facilities
Tepee tent
The tepee is 5 metres in diameter. There is a double bed and a dining table with seating for 2 people, as well as a kitchenette with 2 hotplates, an electric kettle, a fridge and all kitchen utensils for 2 people. The teepee is located right next to the water with the most beautiful view. There are duvets and pillows for 2 people, tea towels, dishcloth, hand sanitiser, washing-up liquid, kitchen roll, toilet paper and everything for cleaning. There is no smoking in the tent. Located 30 metres from the service building in the tent section with both shower, toilet and kitchen, if you do not want to cook in the tipi. Check-in after 3 pm, check-out no later than 11 am.
Safari tent
The safari tent is 15 m2. There is a sleeping area with 1 double bed or 2 single beds and a bunk bed. There is also a dining area with seating for 4 people and a kitchenette with 2 hotplates, an electric kettle, a fridge and all kitchen utensils for 4 people. Outside there is a partially covered terrace with garden furniture and the most beautiful view of the water. There are pillows and duvets for 4 people, tea towel, dishcloth, hand sanitiser, washing-up liquid, kitchen roll, toilet paper and everything for cleaning. Located about 80 metres from the service building, where the toilet and shower are. There is no smoking in the tent. Final cleaning is done by the tenant or can be ordered for a fee. Check-in after 15.00, check-out no later than 11.00.
Cabins
We have 2 cabins which are 30 m2 each and contains a bedroom with a double bed (160 x 200 cm), kitchen /living room with a double sleeping couch (140 x 200), dining table and all china, cutlery and cooking gear for 6 persons along with a refrigerator and a stove with an oven. There is also a small room with a bunk bed (2 x 70 x 190) and a toilet with a shower. Duvets and pillows are provided, but you must bring bed linen – or rent it from us. Please order in advance if possible. Dish cloth and dish towels are provided. It is prohibited to smoke in the cabins. We only allow animals in one of the cabins, so you have to inform us beforehand if you are bringing one with you. End cleaning may be made by the guests but can also be paid for. All cleaning utensils are provided.
Outside the cabins is a partly covered porch with outdoor furniture and a grill. The cabins are placed on some of the highest ground of the campsite, so even though they are not close to the water, you can still see the water and Stege in the distance.
The cabins are for rent all the year even though the rest of the campsite is closed. November through to April are the best months for enjoying the dark sky and the stars – and fishing is also best during those months. The cabins are very well suited for both.
Shelter
On the tent area we have put up a shelter. It has room for 4 -5 people and is placed right at the back of the area. in front of it, you find a fireplace and it is close the wooden house with table tennis and the outdoor kitchen. If you do not bring your own gear, you can rent a mattress and bedding from us.
Rent a caravan
We have 2 caravans for rent. Both caravans have room for 4 persons in the caravan and then one person can sleep in the awning, weather permitting. There is a double bed in the back af the caravan and a table with sofas in the front. This can be made into another double bed. In the smallest caravan, this bed is more suited for children or teenagers than for grown-ups whereas the bed in the big caravan easily holds two grown-ups. Both caravans are equipped with all kitchenware for 5 persons along with an electric kettle and a coffee maker. There are dyvets and pillows for 4 and more can be provided. You should bring your own bedlinen – or you can rent it for 30 DKK per person per stay. Please order this in advance. Smoking is prohibited in the caravans and pets are only accepted if they are kept in the awning. The final clean-up can be made by you or you can choose to pay us to do it. Cleaning materials are provided.
Both caravans have an awning from mid-May until mid-September. There is a table with 5 chairs and a small kitchen in the awning and outside you have garden furniture. The awning may be draughty when we have strong winds and by heavy rain, water may appear. But we do all we can to prevent this.
Both caravans are placed right next to the reception/facility building, so toilets and showers in the building must be used when staying in caravans. If you want to use the toilet in the caravan, you must fill the water system and empty the cemical toilet yourself. If we have to empty the toilet, it costs 350 DKK.
Cooking can be done in the awning or you can use the kitchen in the facility building.
Rent a tent
If you arrive without tent and sleeping gear, you can rent a tent with a mattress and bedclothes. You must put up the tent yourself, but that is easy and then you get to choose where you want to be – among the caravans and close to the facility building or down by the water on the tent area. You must take down the tent when you leave. You can also borrow a box with plates and cutlery and cooking gear.
Bed & breakfast
When you stay the night on the campsite, you can always order breakfast. You get fresh bread, cheese, marmelade, honey and fresh fruit as well as muesli and milk. And coffee or tea and orange juice. If you want to make a packed lunch , you can order that as well, then you get more bread and cheese along with some meat or vegetables according to your choice.
